KalaSaadhana believes in human creativity and celebrates it in any form - especially through Performance Arts. KalaSaadhana Art & Dance Institute's self-envisaged vision is to evolve into an anthropological bridge, bringing together Dance, Theatre, Literature, and the most important of all - people. KS-ADI moves ahead towards this vision with its promise: “Art That Beats for Humanity".
Humanitarian values and social issues are the underlying tenets of ADI’s art projects and will continue to remain as their talking points. While we are committed to building greater consciousness about the roots of the Tamil classical dance, Bharathanatyam, KS-ADI is equally passionate about infusing innovation and creativity into both aspects of the dance we teach - the art form and its core content.
What we do:
Dance Dramas: KalaSaadhana has an in-house team that produces its own dance dramas. As the dance style originates from southern India, its legacy contributes to new permutations and combinations in performance art, ushering in variety in contrast with the established western dance traditions. With our unconventional treatment of Bharathanatyam, ADI's Dance Dramas challenge the current views/understanding of how stories, narrative, and art are connected. The always inclusive themes are hand-picked and marinated with our underlying tenets thus exposing dancers to an exhaustive range of genres and styles of drama, ultimately offering kaleidoscopic performance experiences to the audience.
Solo Perfomances - Arangetram: We transform interesting ideas into themes/concepts in a Natya Arangetram. The 11 Forms of Natyam, Bharathi Poetry, Women in Tamil Literature are some of the unique arangetram concepts we have choreographed, as against the traditional arangetram concepts revolving around religion and devotion. Our Thematic Arangetrams have been well received and critically acclaimed.
As part of its mission, the Art & Dance Institute also conducts Tamil classical dance classes at regular frequencies and batches for children and youth. Through our training, we strive to enable insights into the Tamil culture - from its classical days to contemporary life. Simultaneously, ADI works towards the successful integration of the Tamils living in Norway through dance, theatre, musíc and various forms of performance arts. We educate our students about culture in general through facial expressions, movement vocabulary, and structure, which is an integral part of learning this art form.
Arts and Dance Institute (ADI) was founded in 2001 in the beautiful Sandvika City of Norway, setting itself on a mission of promoting the South Indian dance form of Bharathanatyam; to leverage performance art as a tool to propagate one of the most universal thoughts, " All the places of the world are thy living place, All the peoples of the world are thy relatives" which hails from the ancient Tamil literature, the Sangam corpus.
